Character Name: Cliff Fittir Canon: Star Ocean: Till the End of Time Can we fourth-wall you? No. Star Ocean 3 is complicated regarding the 4th wall, considering how the plot of the game is. How can we contact you? plurk @ starkxravingxmad
IF YOU SAID NO TO FOURTH WALLING... Are you open to us completely bleeping out canon/character names/genre/type? Bleeps are fine, as are general references to basic tropes regarding action/character archetype, JRPG standards, etc etc. Just don't say he's a video game character. I'll elaborate the reasons below.
Are you open to us having our characters recognize yours in prose but not break fourth wall for any number of IC reasons? If you think Gin is nerdy enough to recognize a decade old JRPG that was never entirely too popular within the fandom, go for it. Can we have our characters say Luceti is a roleplay game and have your character think they're crazy or whatever? Oh, there will be plenty of commentary on being crazy if this comes up...
I say that Star Ocean 3 is complicated regarding the 4th wall because a pivotal plot point is the reveal to these characters the fact that they are indeed characters in an MMO style game. The final boss is, effectively, the creator of the 'Eternal Sphere' as the game is called within the canon. It's a sore spot for Cliff, and something that he will never mention to anyone outside of his castmates.
This is why I say 'no' for any overt 4th walling. It's happened already within the canon itself.
