[VIDEO/ACTION] Imperfect Wings Won't Get You Into S*ul S*ciety

[ You’re flying!

Or more specifically, the video (also known as the journal) is flying! There is a spot of cloud, and there’s another slice of tree, and a whole lot of snow, and then with a rather unimpressive thump, the entire thing comes to a stop with a small puff of snow covering one corner of the screen, which appears to be sideways and hanging from a branch of a tree, under which two people stand -- a tall, silver haired man with silvery white wings, and a short, red-haired girl with bright red wings.

It appears that he was mid-shout when the journal opened, as he has a finger pointed up in the direction of the journal and is gesticulating furiously. ]

-- YOU WANT IT SO MUCH, WHY DON’T YOU GO UP THERE AND GET IT, HAH?!?!

[ Clearly, this is the main character of the show, because he’s 1.) shirtless, 2.) quite loud, and also 3.) has the Protagonist Image, being shirtless and buff and all. (And yes, of course he is the protagonist, because he is Gintoki, and that makes him the star of Gintama, and you are currently watching part of season 7, which has not yet begun to air on TV Tokyo because Gintama has been on hiatus. It is not in fact canceled, as you might believe.) ]

Gin-chaaaaan!

[ The girl huffs angrily, looking from the journal, to the “protagonist", gritting her teeth angrily. That journal was hers, and she knew it. Surely, an angel wouldn’t do something like this. An angel wouldn’t put her through the daily torment that Gintoki does. So she makes her decision in an instant.

He doesn’t deserve to be an angel.

She reaches out quickly, aiming to rip one of those stupid wings off of his back. She only manages a handful of feathers, but still, her point is probably made. ]

Fly up there and get it now aru, you bastard!

[ And of course, because this is Gintama, or more specifically, a Gintama roleplay, instead of just a small trickle of blood and a scream or something along those lines, there’s an explosion of blood and Gintoki goes pale and suddenly staggers as he clutches at his poor wing (is he actually serious? he’s not actually serious, is he, this is just for dramatic effect isn’t it) and actually collapses onto the ground.

He may or may not be slightly twitching.

It’s all very dramatic.]

Gin-chan?

[ For a moment, she nearly ignores him and trudges off through the snow without him. But that twitching… It’s a little disconcerting. She crouches next to him and pats his face roughly. ]

Oi, there’s parfaits over in that snow bank. I wasn’t going to tell you aru, but if you get up you can have one.

[ At first there’s no response, and then Gintoki slowly manages to move his head to look up at Kagura the way a man close to DEATH might. ]

I can’t do it. You ripped out my re*atsu when you ripped out my feathers. Without a full set of wings, I can’t enter S*ul S*ciety.

[ Her eyes widen at that. Is it true? Will he really get left behind while she ascends? ]

I’m sorry, Gin-chan! Please wait, I will carry you to the hospital aru!

[ BUT FIRST, she’ll step away, and crouch down to dig a little hole in the snow, where she buries those feathers. She doesn’t want any B*nkai wielding S*ul S*ciety sh*n*gam* after her.

And when they are sufficiently hidden, she won’t go to immediately pick him up. She instead hops up to knock that journal out of the tree. She tucks it down the front of her shirt, then she’ll hoist the man on to her back, and start running through the trees. She actually has no idea where she’s going, so she’ll probably circle back around at some point.]

Gin... Chan?

[ She's so relieved! For about all of two seconds. Until he rushes past her.

She wipes her eyes, turning BACK to that apartment. Her mood does a total reversal again, and now she's fuming once more. She marches right back to the door, and after fumbling for a moment, finds the right key to slip into the lock.

AND PUSHES THE DOOR TO FIND IT IS JAMMED. ]

GIN-CHAN!!!

LET

[ She pushes harder against the door. ]

ME

[ Maybe even harder. Busting the knob off the door. ]

IN!!!

[ She bulldozes her way in, even without the doorknob, cracking that poor chair in half. And now there's a crazy looking, little girl shaped oni in the doorway, looking for blood. ]

[gin_san]

[ See, normally there might be some sort of ridiculous, comical thing that happens here, as is expected of Gintama gags, complete with a flailing Gin-san and maybe a Sadaharu who bites on his master's head. But, since this is a different setting, Gintoki isn't looking at Kagura, but is instead dramatically standing in front of an open door, quietly looking in on what looks like a bedroom. And there's another bedroom right next to it, in fact.

He'd flicked the light switches inside both rooms. ]

Oi, Kagura. Come here and look at this.

[ He's never lived anywhere this nice in his life, so Gintoki's a little too surprised to do some dumb shit like usual.

There's even Western-style beds, and nightstands with little lamps on them. And the bedspreads look nice and new, not old and tattered and worn like the futons in the Yorozuya. ]

[chinagirl]

[ She huffs loudly, not wanting to listen to him at first. But since he doesn't have that antagonistic tone anymore, her curiosity will get the better of her, and she'll follow him.

And, then she'll look up at him with an uncertain expression, once she sees the bedroom. ]

Gin-chan, do you think this is someone's house, aru? They left the keys inside, but...

[gin_san]

Well, the stupid instructions manual said that housing is free and we can just sort of live anywhere we want.

[ But just in case, Gintoki goes into one of the bedrooms and opens up the dresser. All the drawers are empty. He then goes over to the closet and tries that, too. Also empty. ]

I don't think anyone's living here yet, so I guess we can stay here.

[chinagirl]

[ And she hops right onto the bed, where she begins to jump up and down. They are going to have to get down and apologize to the fourth floor at some point. ]

[gin_san]

Oi, oi, don't jump so hard, you're gonna break the bed!

[ Though really, he's kinda pleased because they get their own rooms and everything, and this is a really huge upgrade from what they're used to. Gintoki goes back out into the main apartment to explore the rest of the place.

IT'S HUGE. ]

[chinagirl]

[ After a couple more jumps, she'll slide off the bed and follow him. ]

Gin-chan, we really get to live here? And we can have western style beds? Ah, is it because you have to play mayo games aru? Is this the payment?

[ GEHHH DON'T REMIND HIM.

Gintoki violently shudders, tries not to gag. ]

[gin_san]

I'll kill anyone before they try to get their mayo on me.

[ Unless it's Ketsuno Ana. Then she can mayo him all she wants. ]

[chinagirl]

But, Gin-chan, I have always wanted to sleep in a western style bed since I was a baby! Maybe just a little mayo is okay, so we do not have to go back to our old house aru.

[gin_san]

We can sleep in the Western beds without any mayo involved.

[ Yeah, those words are literally ground out between his teeth. ]

[chinagirl]

So which room will be Gin-chan's? I want the one with the bounciest bed. Then the last one can be Shinpachi's.

[gin_san]

I don't care, just pick one.

[ Gintoki gives a dismissive wave of his hand. Really, he's just grateful that they have a roof over their heads and a nice place to sleep. Which room he ends up taking doesn't really matter in the long run. ]

[chinagirl]

Okay! This one is Shinpachi's!

[ She'll head over to one of the doorways, and produce Gintoki's journal, which is now wearing a pair of reading glasses she picked up at the clothing store. And she'll toss the journal into the room. ]

Ah, Gin-chan...?

[ Once she steps back into the living room, she looks around slowly. ]

I know what is missing now aru.

[gin_san]

If you're gonna say we need a bigger fridge, I already have plans to get a new one tomorrow.

[ Yeah, Gintoki already noticed how small the fridge is -- definitely not big enough to hold all of his puddings. His free puddings. Which he can get from the grocery store every day without paying a single dime. He fully intends on filling it all up with pudding and become Lord of the Pudding. ]

[chinagirl]

[ She shakes her head, pointing to the front of the living room. ]

Where is the television aru?

[gin_san]

[ Gintoki follows her finger to the empty spot in the living room where there should've been a television, but only sees a big, long space. ]

Oi, oi, that can't be right. I bet it's in the closet or something.

[ He strolls across the living room. ] They can't possibly give us such a nice place to live without giving us a TV!

[ And then he opens the closet door.

It's empty. ]

[chinagirl]

Maybe they forgot to give us one aru.

[ She digs in her pocket for all those other keys. ]

We can just get one from next door aru!

[gin_san]

Yeah, go check next door. I'm gonna look through all these closets.

[ They can't. Not. Have. A. Television. ]

[chinagirl]

[ She'll be gone for a bit, because she is checking EVERY APARTMENT ON THE FLOOR, except Kenshin's. In every living room, every closet and bedroom, there is no TV to be found. She returns later, looking pretty upset. ]

Gin-chan... I'M GOING TO MISS L*PUTA ARU!

[ Yes, she's sad about missing a rerun of a movie. ]

[gin_san]

[ Forget about L*puta, how's Gin-san going to start every morning off without Ketsuno Ana to greet him? HOW'S GIN-SAN GONNA KNOW HOW TO DRESS FOR THE WEATHER, HUH????? And what are they gonna do without being able to watch their game shows and anime reruns and all the cheesy dramas, too?

He stares at Kagura, then at the empty spot in the living room and goes right to where the television should be. ]

C-c-calm d-down, I'm sure there's a TV here somewhere... I bet it's just invisible or hidden, right? A hidden TV!

[ And he gets to his knees and starts blindly feeling the air before him. ]

It's just hiding, it's gotta be!

[chinagirl]

[ She pauses, waiting for the shrill shrieking of a Patsuan... But none comes. Since there's no straight man, she'll get down on her knees too and start crawling around the room, feeling the empty air. ]

Maybe P*zu and Sh*eta destroyed our TV aru. We should fly to another Doujin.

[gin_san]

Oi, oi, be careful talking about that... You don't know if the ecchi fan is listening or not. If they suddenly change their mind about you, you might end up in a school girl uniform doing ***** to old men.

[ The words are more or less hissed out, as though Gintoki's trying to prevent anyone from overhearing. He continues waving his arm before him, trying to find this invisible television. Maybe if he wills it hard enough, it'll materialize. ]

[chinagirl]

You have not checked the tags on T*mblr lately, yes? There are more mayo pictures than anything else, so I believe that the mayo crew will eclipse the ones who want me to do ***** to old men aru.

[ She flops over and starts wiggling her arms under the couch. ]

[gin_san]

[ ARGGGH DON'T MENTION THE MAYO PICTURES.

A vein violently twitches on the side of his forehead and Gintoki considers throwing Kagura clear across the room, but forces himself to calm down in the off-chance that some ecchi fan is actually listening, and would make him do those things after all.

One can never be too careful in a doujinshi.

Or fanfiction.

Whatever this is. ]

Yeah, well I'm not the one who's talking about escaping the canon she's in, you know. As long as Gin-san gets to continue to be in the G-rated doujinshi, he'll happily be very cooperative, you know!

[ ....where is this television!?!

Gintoki feels like he's waved his arms across the entire expanse of the living room. ]
